Nigeria has launched a drone regulation portal to enhance safety, manage industry growth, and provide a clear framework for unmanned aerial system operations.
Nigeria has launched a new drone regulation portal aimed at improving safety and supporting industry growth, according to Unmanned Airspace.
The initiative was announced by Chris Najomo, director-general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, during the 6th Africa International Drone Technology Conference and Exhibition (Dronetecx 2026) in Lagos.
Najomo stressed the importance of regulation in managing the rapid expansion of drone usage, particularly in the recreational category. He said the portal would provide a structured framework to guide operations and ensure compliance across the sector.
According to Unmanned Airspace, the platform is expected to offer a comprehensive roadmap for stakeholders while promoting innovation and responsible drone deployment nationwide.
Authorities say the move aligns with global efforts to regulate unmanned aerial systems and unlock economic opportunities within the fast-growing drone ecosystem.
