Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has emerged as the sole aspirant for the NDC’s 2027 presidential ticket after the party closed the sale of forms.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress has closed the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for its 2027 presidential ticket, with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi emerging as the sole aspirant.
Party sources disclosed on Monday that Obi was the only contender who purchased the presidential forms before the deadline expired.
The NDC, however, extended by one week the deadline for collection of Expression of Interest Forms for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State Assembly positions.
National Secretary of the party, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, said the new deadline for other elective offices is May 24, while presidential form sales had officially closed.
The party said screening of aspirants would run from May 19 to May 26, adding that no further extension would be granted.
With the development, Obi, who recently defected from the African Democratic Congress, is expected to emerge as the consensus presidential candidate of the NDC.
