MTN Nigeria has agreed to compensate customers affected by service disruptions between November 2025 and January 2026 following a directive from the NCC.
MTN Nigeria has said it will comply with a directive from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to compensate subscribers affected by service shortfalls recorded between November 2025 and January 2026.
The development follows regulatory pressure from the NCC, which cited the operator for failing to meet quality-of-service benchmarks across several regions. In a statement issued on Thursday, MTN acknowledged the disruptions experienced by customers in the affected areas and pledged to implement the compensation framework as directed. “All consumers within the affected areas where service shortfalls were recorded will receive compensation for the operating periods of November, December, and January, in accordance with the applicable framework,” the company stated.
MTN added that the directive underscores the regulator’s commitment to consumer protection and accountability within the telecom sector. It noted that the move places “customers at the centre of regulatory decision-making,” as efforts continue to address service quality concerns in Africa’s largest mobile market.
