UAE plans world-first AI-driven govt

UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has announced plans to integrate “agentic AI” into half of government operations within two years to boost efficiency and service delivery.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has announced plans for the United Arab Emirates to roll out a new government model powered by artificial intelligence, with a target of integrating advanced systems across public operations within two years.

In a post on X on Thursday, the Dubai ruler said the initiative, launched under the directives of the UAE president, would see 50 percent of government sectors, services, and operations run on “agentic AI”, a form of artificial intelligence capable of making decisions and acting autonomously. Al Maktoum said the move would position the UAE as the first government globally to operate at such a scale using autonomous systems. “AI is no longer a tool. It analyses, decides, executes, and improves in real time,” he said.

He added that the transformation would enhance service delivery and decision-making while boosting efficiency across government institutions. “It will become our executive partner to enhance services, accelerate decisions, and raise efficiency,” he said, noting that performance would be measured by adoption speed, execution quality, and the ability to redesign public services using AI. “We are investing in our people. Every federal employee will be trained to master AI, building one of the world’s strongest capabilities in AI-driven government,” he added.
