The Lagos State Government will resume its monthly environmental sanitation exercise on April 25, 2026, urging residents to participate in efforts to improve cleanliness and environmental health.
The Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise nearly a decade after it was suspended. The initiative will restart on April 25, 2026, with residents expected to clean their surroundings, clear drainage channels, and dispose of waste properly to improve environmental hygiene.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the exercise would hold on the last Saturday of every month from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. He said, “During this period, residents are enjoined to clean their surroundings, clear drainage channels in their frontages, and dispose of waste properly as a civic responsibility.”
Wahab described the initiative as a collective effort to maintain a cleaner city and tackle environmental challenges. “This exercise is a collective responsibility and a vital part of our commitment to a cleaner, healthier, and flood-resilient Lagos,” he said, urging residents to dedicate a few hours monthly to sanitation activities.
