The IA-Foundation has welcomed the Federal Government’s proposal to review the JSS-SSS separation, calling it timely but insisting broader, sustained reforms are needed to tackle Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis.
IA-FOUNDATION BACKS FG’S PLAN TO REVIEW JSS, SSS STRUCTURE
The IA-Foundation has backed the Federal Government’s proposal to review the separation between Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School, describing it as a timely step to curb dropout rates, The Nation reports.
Founder Ibironke Adeagbo said structural reforms alone would not resolve Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis, stressing the need for sustained collaboration, innovation and accountability across the education sector.
The UK-based charity said its position aligns with outcomes from its recent education summit, which produced an Education White Paper and a portal connecting out-of-school children with sponsors. The foundation added that tackling the crisis requires coordinated action involving governments, private organisations, philanthropists, schools and civil society groups, and reaffirmed its commitment to advocacy and evidence-based engagement.
