A total of 46 persons, including a two-year-old toddler, Christianah Akanbi, seven teachers, and 39 students, were abducted by terrorists who invaded schools and communities in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State last Friday.

A two-year-old toddler, Christianah Akanbi, of Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School, is among the 46 persons confirmed kidnapped by terrorists who attacked several communities in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State last Friday. According to community leaders, a total of 46 individuals—comprising seven teachers and 39 students—were forcefully taken from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School during the coordinated raid. Beyond the mass abduction, the heavily armed attackers also targeted local residents, forcefully snatching four motorcycles from villagers, with three taken from the Yawota community and one from the high school premises.

The identities of the seven abducted educators from both academic institutions have been disclosed by local representatives. The affected staff members from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, include the Principal, Mrs. Alamu Folawe; the Vice Principal, Mr. Ojo Jonathan; and teachers Mr. Olatunde Zacchaeus, Mr. John Olaleye, Mr. Michael Oyedokun, and Mrs. Oladeji. Also taken during the school raid was Mary Akanbi, a teacher at Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School. The mass abduction of these educators alongside their pupils has sent shockwaves through the regional academic community and triggered widespread anxiety across the South West geopolitical zone.

A breakdown of the 39 abducted minors reveals that the victims were taken across four distinct communities in the local government area, with many between the ages of two and sixteen. From the Ahoro-Esinele community, the terrorists captured Rashida Tajudeen, Ahmed Ramoni, Abdulsalam Toyib, Baraka Abioye, Fatimo Jimoh, Hassan Azeez, and Joshua Adeleke. The Yawota community suffered the highest toll, losing young children including Samuel Oyedele, Emmanuel Oyedele, Idowu Taiwo, Christianah Akanbi, Juwon Sunday, Sikiru Salami, Soliu Salami, Ojo Joseph, Lydia Adewole, Testimony Jacob, Kehinde Kaosara, Sewa Seyi, Waliya Bello, Lydia Olohunloluwa, Damilare Oderinde, Deborah Adebowale, Aisha Oguntowo, Lege Taiwo, Balkis Ayanwale, and Asa David. Additionally, Shuaibu Aliyu, Ahmed Aliyu, Muiz Aliyu, and Jomiloju Ogunlola were seized from Oniya community, while the Alawusa community residents involved were identified as Agune Noah, Elizabeth Abadi, Tosin Abadi, Pius Stephen, Hannah Ojo, Habidat Ayanwale, Mary Gabriel, and Jacob Gabriel, whose age was not specified.
