Operatives of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board have arrested a man who was found hidden inside a large ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag at the residence of a married woman following an alert by residents over an alleged illicit romantic affairs
Operatives of the Hisbah Board in Kebbi State have arrested a man who was allegedly found hiding inside a large ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ woven bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi. The Director of Sharia at the board, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the unusual arrest in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday. Kamba explained that alert community members first notified the Islamic security agency at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Monday after they noticed highly suspicious movements around the woman’s matrimonial home, leading the neighborhood to suspect that an illicit relationship was taking place in the husband’s absence.
Upon receiving the distress call, Hisbah officers were immediately deployed to the scene to investigate the report, though they initially faced resistance from the female suspect. According to Kamba, the woman vehemently denied that anyone else was inside the house when officers first questioned her. However, she later relented and granted the operatives access to the property, leading to a thorough search of the premises where the male suspect was ultimately discovered completely concealed inside the storage bag.
Further investigation by the board indicated an alleged ongoing romantic relationship between the man and the married woman. The Hisbah official revealed that both suspects openly admitted to the allegations of an illicit affair during their interrogation at the agency’s headquarters. Kamba stated that the case remains under active investigation, after which both individuals are expected to be formally arraigned in a Sharia court to face charges under Islamic law.
