Loyalists of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have lambasted the APC over its Kogi State primaries, particularly the decision to clear former Governor Yahaya Bello to contest for Senate despite pending EFCC corruption charges.
Loyalists of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Monday criticised the All Progressives Congress over what they described as a rancorous and poorly managed primary election process in Kogi State.
Speaking in Abuja, Natasha’s Media Adviser Samuel Idoko said the primaries exposed the ruling party’s disorganisation. “What Nigerians and Kogites have seen is confusion, manipulation, and lack of internal democracy,” he said.
Idoko reserved his sharpest criticism for the APC screening committee’s decision to clear former Governor Yahaya Bello despite his pending EFCC cases. “It is a major dent on the integrity of the APC and clearly shows that the party does not care about accountability,” he stated.
Idoko, who is contesting a Kogi State House of Assembly seat on the PDP platform, said the crisis had boosted his party’s prospects. “PDP is strongly positioned to win elections across Kogi East and Kogi Central, from the Senate down to the State House of Assembly seats,” he added.
