A Federal High Court granted bail to Nasir El-Rufai under strict conditions, while a related hearing at the Kaduna State High Court was postponed to April 21, 2026.
A Federal High Court in Kaduna has granted bail to former governor Nasir El-Rufai, while a separate bail application at the State High Court was adjourned to April 21, 2026. The proceedings followed two court sittings on Tuesday addressing related matters involving the former governor.
The Federal High Court approved bail set at ₦200 million with two sureties, including a property owner with a Certificate of Occupancy and a verified elder. The court also barred El-Rufai and his counsel from granting interviews, ordered him to deposit his passport, and directed monthly reporting to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
At the Kaduna State High Court, proceedings were adjourned after El-Rufai’s earlier appearance. He faces a nine-count charge including alleged fraud and money laundering, to which he pleaded not guilty. Security was heightened during the hearings, while the prosecution said the amended charges followed the absence of a co-defendant due to medical reasons.
