President Tinubu has granted Customs Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi a final six-month tenure extension, keeping him in office until February 2027.
Adewale Adeniyi gets a bit more time at the top. President Tinubu has approved a final six-month extension for the Customs Comptroller-General, stretching his tenure to February 2027.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the move comes just before Adeniyi’s current extension was set to expire on August 1, 2026.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga explained the extra time is meant to help Adeniyi lock in the National Single Window project and ensure a clean handover at the Nigeria Customs Service.
During this stretch, Adeniyi will work with the NCS Board to promote qualified officers to Comptroller rank and retire those who’ve hit 60 or clocked 35 years of service.
He’s led Customs since Tinubu appointed him in June 2023.
