Bandit kingpin’s mother, sister jailed for 40 years

A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced the mother and sister of slain terrorist kingpin Ibrahim Battujo to 40 years in prison each for aiding his activities.

Justice has caught up with Ibrahim Battujo’s family. A Federal High Court in Abuja has slapped Safiya Salihu and Halima Abdullahi — the slain terrorist kingpin’s mother and sister — with 40-year prison sentences each.

According to The PUNCH, Justice Hauwa Yilwa convicted the pair for aiding and abetting Battujo’s terror activities, including passing him information over the phone and sitting on intelligence that could have led to his capture.

Battujo was killed by security forces on June 10 after a failed attempt to abduct WASSCE students in Kogi State.

The women pleaded guilty to three of five charges, with the rest dropped. Their sentences run concurrently — 40 years each, followed by mandatory rehabilitation.
