Ekiti decides: APC, PDP, ADC battle for votes in 16 LGAs

Over a million registered voters in Ekiti State are set to choose a new governor, with the APC, PDP and ADC all claiming they have what it takes to win.

It’s decision day in Ekiti. More than a million registered voters — 1,059,360, to be exact — are heading to the polls to pick the state’s next governor, and the major parties aren’t holding back on confidence.

According to Saturday PUNCH, the APC is dreaming big, eyeing a clean sweep of all 16 local government areas and a target of 500,000 votes. But the PDP and ADC aren’t intimidated, both insisting they’ve got the grassroots muscle to claim at least 10 councils apiece.

Over 7,000 party agents will be watching the polling units like hawks. Security is locked down too, with police warning troublemakers to steer clear and the NSCDC rolling out 5,500 personnel. Observers, meanwhile, want INEC to keep BVAS working and the process squeaky clean.
