KAROTA has called for urgent government and military intervention to end recurring clashes between its officers and soldiers during traffic enforcement in Kano State.
Enough is enough — that’s the message from Kano’s traffic agency, KAROTA, after a string of clashes with soldiers on the roads, according to Peoples Gazette. In a Saturday statement, Managing Director Faisal Mahmud-Kabir said run-ins with military personnel during enforcement duties are becoming all too common.
He insisted KAROTA has full legal backing to regulate traffic and enforce road safety, but claimed some soldiers ignore lawful instructions from officers on duty. Still, he gave the Army credit for its security role and called for better cooperation between both sides.
Mahmud-Kabir, Peoples Gazette/NAN reports, urged the state government and military authorities to broker dialogue, saying mutual respect and stronger collaboration would prevent future flare-ups.
