The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is sounding the alarm over a wave of coordinated attacks on its infrastructure across the country. Recent incidents in Plateau and Bauchi states have seen significant vandalism, including the removal of railway slippers and the discovery of trucks carrying stolen materials. These acts are a direct threat to national infrastructure, public safety, and economic growth.
NRC chief Kayode Opeifa decried the vandalism as an affront to national security, warning of catastrophic accidents and billions in lost investment. He urged swift, collective action from authorities and the public to protect these vital national assets from criminal elements involved in their destruction and illegal trade.
