US President Donald Trump says American and Nigerian forces have killed senior ISIS commander Abu-Bilal al-Minuki during a joint military operation in Africa.
US President Donald Trump has announced that American and Nigerian forces killed a senior ISIS commander, Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, during a joint military operation in Africa.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump described al-Minuki as the “second in command of ISIS globally” and said the mission was “flawlessly executed.”
According to reports, al-Minuki coordinated Islamic State-linked operations across Africa, particularly within the Islamic State West Africa Province operating around the Lake Chad Basin and the Sahel region.
The Nigerian military had yet to officially confirm the operation as of press time.
Trump said the operation dealt a major blow to ISIS operations in Africa and disrupted its funding and command structures.
“He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa or help plan operations to target Americans,” Trump stated while thanking Nigeria for its partnership in combating terrorism.
