A 27-year-old Nigerian man, Oluwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of film student Finbar Sullivan at London’s Primrose Hill.
Oluwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, a 27-year-old Nigerian living in the United Kingdom, has been charged with the murder of Finbar Sullivan, a 21-year-old film student. The fatal incident occurred last Tuesday at Primrose Hill, a popular London landmark, where Sullivan had reportedly gone to test a new camera he received for his birthday. A scuffle broke out between the two men, resulting in Sullivan receiving multiple stab wounds; despite 20 minutes of CPR performed by a friend, he succumbed to a severed artery in his leg.
During his arraignment at the Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Ogunyankinnu fiercely denied the allegations, shouting that the police had arrested the wrong person and that he had not killed anyone. The Metropolitan Police arrested the suspect on Friday following an intensive investigation into the daylight attack. The defendant has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday for the next stage of his trial.
The death of Finbar Sullivan, an aspiring filmmaker at the London Screen Academy and grandson of famed cinematographer Michael Seresin, has sparked an outpouring of grief. British musician Boy George, a close friend of the victim’s father, expressed his devastation over the loss of the young man known professionally as “Sully Shot It.” As the legal process begins, the community remains in shock over the violent end of a promising creative career at one of the city’s most peaceful locations
