‘They don’t have sense’–Ogogo slams public feud between Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham

Veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo, has rebuked the public friction between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, urging the two superstars to embrace their divine blessings rather than engaging in a viral “spat.”

Veteran Nollywood actor and producer Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has issued a scathing critique of the ongoing spat between top actresses Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, questioning the rationale behind their public disagreements. The veteran’s comments were triggered by a viral video from the Lagos premiere of “The Return of Arinzo,” hosted by Iyabo Ojo, which appeared to show a frosty encounter between the two cinema icons. In the footage, Akindele seemingly ignored Abraham as the latter approached to exchange greetings, an incident that immediately ignited a firestorm of debate across social media platforms regarding the state of their long-rumored rivalry.

Hassan, who boasts decades of experience in the Nigerian film industry, expressed disappointment that two of the sector’s most successful women would allow such tension to play out publicly. Speaking on the feud, Hassan said: “If Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele have sense, they should know God has favored them. I don’t interfere in women’s matters. What is the reason for the fight? God blessed the two of them already, and the next thing they think is right is to be fighting.” He emphasized that both actresses should focus on their significant professional accomplishments and the “divine favor” they have received rather than feeding into public controversies that detract from their legacies.

The tension between Akindele and Abraham is not a new development, with rumors of a competitive rivalry dating back to 2021 following the release of Abraham’s “The Ghost and the Tout Too.” The film drew intense comparisons to Akindele’s record-breaking box office hits, fueling a narrative of professional friction. While Abraham had publicly addressed the speculations in 2024, attributing any perceived animosity to industry competition and hearsay while advocating for mutual respect, this latest encounter suggests a lingering disconnect. As of Friday, April 3, 2026, neither actress has issued a formal response to Ogogo’s public rebuke or the viral footage from the premiere.
