DSS operatives raided Abubakar Malami’s Abuja residence shortly after a visit by Atiku Abubakar, raising fresh political tensions amid ongoing legal and political scrutiny.
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday stormed the Abuja residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in a raid that reportedly forced occupants out of the Maitama property. The operation took place shortly after a visit by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
Sources said Atiku had spent about an hour at the residence before leaving, while security operatives were already stationed around the area during the meeting. Witnesses claimed the DSS moved in immediately after his departure, although the exact reason for the raid has not been officially disclosed.
The development has heightened political tension, with critics alleging possible targeting of opposition figures under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. However, the presidency maintains that ongoing actions against former officials are based on the rule of law, while efforts to get an official response from the DSS were unsuccessful.
