An IED explosion in Niger State killed eight people and destroyed a major bridge, disrupting movement and raising fresh security concerns in the region.
An improvised explosive device attack has killed eight people along Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The explosion occurred on Monday when a moving vehicle reportedly ran into the device planted by suspected terrorists.
The blast also destroyed a key bridge linking the communities of Luma, Babanna, and Agwara, disrupting movement in the area. The route is a major access point for traders and commuters, especially those travelling to the Babanna border market.
The incident comes amid rising insecurity in the region, following a similar explosion reported the same day in Kwara State. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the latest attack.
