Many parts of Lagos and surrounding areas experienced prolonged power outages during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration and throughout the weekend, leaving residents without electricity supply.
Reports indicated that ten electricity distribution companies (DisCos), including Eko Electricity Distribution Company and Ikeja Electric, which supply power to the nation’s commercial hub, recorded zero electricity allocation as of 19:22 hours on Sunday, contributing to the widespread blackout.
Tinubu Vows Stronger Action Against Insecurity
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday in Lagos assured Nigerians that his administration would intensify efforts to address the country’s security challenges.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has denied ordering the dissolution of all police units and squads at the state level.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the IGP explained that the directive only instructs commissioners of police and heads of formations to reduce tactical teams to a maximum of five at zonal and state commands and three at area and divisional levels.
