The Nigerian Navy destroyed a reactivated illegal refinery in Rivers State and seized nearly 4,000 litres of stolen fuel in Calabar during operations against crude oil theft.
The Nigerian Navy has destroyed a reactivated illegal refinery site in Rivers State and intercepted stolen petroleum products in Calabar, Cross River State, as part of operations to curb crude oil theft. Director of Naval Information, Abiodun Folorunsho, said the operations were conducted on March 14 under Operation Delta Sentinel after intelligence revealed renewed illegal refining activities.
Folorunsho said personnel of NNS Soroh discovered a reconstructed refining oven and equipment containing about 3,000 litres of suspected illegally refined fuel. In Calabar, operatives of NNS Victory recovered about 3,950 litres of stolen fuel after suspects fled. “The team discovered that the previously dismantled refining oven had been reconstructed,” he said.
