The Obidient Movement has alerted the public to a suspected IReV portal malfunction during the FCT Area Council elections, calling for increased vigilance to ensure the digital display matches physical polling unit results.
The Obidient Movement has raised an alarm over an alleged failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) during the Saturday, February 21, 2026, FCT Area Council elections, claiming that successfully uploaded results are not appearing on the public server. Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the movement’s National Coordinator, issued an “Alert from the Obidient Movement Headquarters” urging supporters and Nigerians to remain “alert and vigilant” by comparing their physical result sheets against the digital portal.
In a statement, Tanko noted that “information reaching us indicates that the IREV server is active but not displaying results that were reportedly uploaded successfully from various polling units,” prompting him to advise citizens to “proceed peacefully to the Area 10 INEC office and Karu for the collation process” to ensure transparency. While the elections across the six area councils are being closely watched as a gauge of grassroots political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections, INEC has yet to provide an official response to the movement’s claims of a digital glitch. Despite the technical concerns, Tanko emphasized a commitment to “protecting the integrity of the electoral process through peaceful and lawful means.”
