Wike defended FCT election movement restrictions, dismissed Kingibe’s criticism, and said the results would ultimately determine political strength while praising INEC and security agencies for a peaceful vote.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, dismissed criticisms by FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe over election-eve movement restrictions, insisting the directive was approved by the President and not a personal decision, while stressing that the final election results would determine political relevance, stating, “I don’t want to join issues. At the end of the election, when the results come out, then we will know”; he noted low turnout in the city centre, higher participation in satellite towns, and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for a peaceful poll, adding, “We thank God that everywhere is peaceful.”
