The Lagos State Police Command has arrested officers involved in a shooting that killed two passersby in Alagbado and ordered a full investigation into the incident.

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended officers allegedly involved in a shooting that claimed the lives of two passersby in the Alagbado area of Lagos State. The incident reportedly occurred while the officers were pursuing suspected criminals, during which gunshots were accidentally discharged. The development sparked concern among residents, prompting swift intervention by authorities to ease tensions and maintain public safety.

Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the officers were taken into custody on Friday. “The officers implicated in the unfortunate incident had been taken into custody pending further investigation,” she said in a statement shared on her X handle.

Adebisi added that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a thorough and comprehensive probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. She noted that additional security personnel had been deployed to the community to prevent any breakdown of law and order, assuring residents that normalcy had been restored and that justice would be served, with the outcome of the investigation to be made public in due course.
