Suspected bandits invade Ondo palace, murder monarch Oba Kehinde

Suspected bandits invaded a palace in Ondo State and killed monarch Oba Kehinde Falodun after an attempted abduction, prompting police to launch a manhunt for the attackers.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed the traditional ruler of Agamo community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Kehinde Falodun, after invading his palace on Wednesday night. Sources said the attackers, numbering about 10, stormed the community and allegedly targeted the monarch for abduction, killing him after he resisted. Family members recounted that the assailants arrived through the Itaogbolu axis, fired shots and dragged the monarch despite pleas for help, with his wife stating, “The bandits just came and started shooting.

They were about 10 in number. Three of them were at the entrance, while about seven came inside. I ran away; one of them chased me, but he did not know how I escaped into a nearby bush. I was shot at, but it did not affect me.” A daughter also said, “They just invaded the palace and kept shooting at the king, but the bullets didn’t penetrate… Later, they brought out something like a knife and attacked him.” The Nigeria Police Force described the incident as tragic, confirmed the monarch was later found with gunshot wounds and announced that a manhunt involving tactical teams and local security outfits had been launched to arrest the perpetrators.
