Cape Town, Delhi, and Johannesburg top a global survey of the world’s most stressful cities, with crime, congestion, pollution, and humidity cited as key contributors.
A new study by SCSChauffeur has identified the world’s most stressful cities, with Cape Town, South Africa, ranking first due to high crime, heavy congestion, and 75 per cent humidity. Delhi, India, comes second, largely because of extreme air pollution, while Johannesburg ranks third with elevated crime and pollution levels.
Other cities on the list include Zurich, Sao Paulo, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Mexico City, Athens, and Naples, all cited for a combination of crime, congestion, climate, and pollution contributing to urban stress. Hadleigh Diamond, COO of SCSChauffeur, explained that “urban stress isn’t caused by one single factor. It’s the cumulative effect of environmental pressure and perceived lack of control,” noting that these stressors interact to create a consistently taxing environment for residents and travellers alike.
