Remi Tinubu says ‘Christian genocide’ claims are aimed at undermining her husband’s government

First Lady Remi Tinubu has rejected claims of systemic Christian persecution in Nigeria as political propaganda, while simultaneously praising recent U.S. military strikes against terrorists in the region.

First Lady Remi Tinubu has dismissed international reports of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, labeling the claims as social media hype designed to undermine her husband’s administration. Speaking during a visit to the U.S., Mrs. Tinubu stated that these allegations surfaced just as the government successfully stabilized the economy. She maintained, “They’ve tried a lot, you know, to bring this government down.”

While rejecting claims of religious persecution, the First Lady welcomed recent U.S. military intervention. She described the Christmas Day strikes against northern terrorists as a “blessing” and advocated for continued American support to combat banditry. Mrs. Tinubu, a Christian pastor, characterized global concerns as “propaganda,” insisting that the country’s security challenges are being misrepresented to destabilize the current leadership.
