Benue tribal leaders call for expansion of US strikes to North-East, North-Central

Benue tribal leaders have officially commended President Donald Trump for initiating air strikes against terrorist groups in Nigeria’s North West. This endorsement follows the President’s commitment to military intervention. The leaders expressed gratitude for the bold step, which they believe is essential to ending the persistent violence and instability currently plaguing the region.

The Chairman of the tribal groups, Chief Iorbee Ihagh, has formally written to the American President to praise the initiative. He emphasized the need for persistence, stating, “So it is a welcome development. All we are urging the American Presidnet is that the strikes should be sustained and it should be decisive.”

Beyond the initial strikes, the leaders are calling for the military operation to encompass the North East and North Central regions. Chief Ihagh highlighted the severe suffering in the Middle Belt, noting, “We also urge that it should be extended to the North East and the North Central or Middle Belt where we have suffered unimaginable attacks.”

The leaders appealed for humanitarian aid to help displaced persons return home. Many communities, including Moon in Kwande LGA, remain under terrorist occupation. Chief Ihagh noted, “We have a huge humanitarian crisis in Benue as we speak and this was occasioned by the relentless attacks of our communities by these terrorist groups who masquerade as herdsmen.”
