Malami said his decision was driven by insecurity, agricultural collapse, and policy failure. However, the EFCC invited him as part of an investigation into the alleged $490m Abacha loot.
The Kebbi State Government insists Malami’s ambition poses no threat to Governor Nasir Idris. Analysts suggest Malami’s move could fragment the APC’s support base, potentially leading to a three-way contest, and that “the people of Kebbi will decide their governor.”
