Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the recall and revalidation of 1,000 teachers recruited in 2023. This move aims to fill a critical manpower gap in public schools across the state.
The governor’s decision comes in the wake of strong criticism from the Rivers State House of Assembly, which had previously decried the poor conditions in public schools. The Assembly cited decaying infrastructure and a shortage of teaching staff as major concerns.
The revalidation exercise will take place on Wednesday at the RSUBEB State Office in Port Harcourt. Governor Fubara assured that this initiative is part of his commitment to improving the education sector, despite challenges like pre-existing infrastructure decay and the impact of an emergency rule.
