The Federal Government has directed Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to prioritize local content in the non-oil sector. This includes favoring Nigerian companies, technologies, and materials for science and engineering projects. The directive was issued by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh.
Udeh emphasized that the implementation team for Presidential Executive Order 5 will work with NOTAP and other agencies to establish a framework for local content. He stated that national success will depend on innovation, not just oil, making Executive Order 5 a key driver for economic growth and job creation.
The new framework will offer guidelines for implementing Executive Order 5, as outlined in the Federal Government Gazette. It seeks to foster new industries like advanced manufacturing, construction, digital infrastructure, and renewable energy, ensuring local content and expertise are central to all public projects.
