The Nigerian Senate recently undertook a significant reshuffle of its standing committees, indicating new power dynamics within the 10th National Assembly. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced these changes during a plenary session, affecting key bodies like National Security and Intelligence, National Planning, Air Force, and Livestock and Animal Husbandry.
A prominent adjustment includes Senator Yahaya Abdullahi from Kebbi State taking the helm of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence. He formerly chaired the Committee on National Planning. This leadership change comes after Senator Shehu Buba was removed from the security committee.
Senator Buba from Bauchi State has been reassigned to lead the Committee on Livestock and Animal Husbandry. Senator Mustafa Musa from Yobe State now chairs the Committee on National Planning, replacing Abdullahi. Additionally, Senator Osita Ngwu, the Minority Whip from Enugu State, assumes the acting chairmanship of the Air Force Committee.
