The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has disclosed that Governor Ademola Adeleke “may no longer be interested” in contesting for the party’s 2026 governorship ticket, citing escalating internal crises that have disrupted key congresses and rendered the December 2 primaries impossible.
Osun PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi explained that although Adeleke fulfilled all nomination requirements purchasing forms, undergoing screening, and receiving a clearance certificate the suspension battles within the national leadership prevented statutory ward and local government congresses from holding.
Bisi said the uncertainty affects the transmission of candidates’ names to INEC and warned that Adeleke’s interest may only be restored “if a resolution recognised by INEC is reached within the INEC timeline,” with parties having until December 15 to submit their candidates for the August 8 poll.
