Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has awarded immediate employment to three Commonwealth Games medallists within the state’s ministry of sports development. This gesture was announced by Governor Eno on Friday in Uyo during the reception of the Unity Torch for the 2026 Akwa Ibom Sports Festival.
The recipients include Edidiong Umofia (gold, weightlifting), Ruth Nyong (silver, weightlifting), and Enku Ekuta (bronze, judo). Governor Eno stated the employment is to honor their achievements and inspire further success in sports, emphasizing sports as a significant industry.
