Lawyers clashed Tuesday over serving President Bola Tinubu with a lawsuit challenging his eligibility for the 2027 election. Atiku Abubakar’s legal team sought substituted service, but Tinubu’s lawyer offered to accept the documents in court, a proposal Atiku’s side rejected without written assurance of authority. The judge adjourned the case to allow for proper service.
The suit, filed by Atiku and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), questions Tinubu’s eligibility due to alleged discrepancies in his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate name. They argue that presenting a potentially forged certificate disqualifies him from presidential candidacy.
