Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) has rejected the Federal Government’s pilot ranching scheme. They view it as an attempt to seize ancestral lands under the guise of livestock development, specifically targeting areas in the Middle Belt.
The forum urged communities and governments in Southern states to resist the policy. Concerns were raised that the scheme, if implemented, could create permanent settlements for Fulani herdsmen, potentially escalating existing tensions.
