FG Launches AI Training for 11,700 Unity Schools’ Teachers
Nigeria’s classrooms are getting a tech upgrade. Per Vanguard, the Federal Ministry of Education signed the Terms of Reference with ICEDT Consult Limited to roll out the AI Teacher Capacity Development Programme nationwide, aiming to train about 11,700 educators.
Director Gabriel Amudipe described it as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s teaching workforce, following an earlier successful pilot across six Federal Unity Colleges representing the country’s six geopolitical zones. He urged officials to maintain the pilot’s standards during the national rollout.
ICEDT’s Dr. Abdulrahman Orosanya said the pilot showed AI could improve lesson planning, classroom instruction and teacher productivity. The programme aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to modernise Nigeria’s education sector.
