Nigerian students shine at 2026 Singapore Math Olympiad, win gold

Nigerian students clinched multiple gold, silver and bronze medals at the 2026 Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad Challenge, with two finishing among the world’s top 10.

Nigeria brought its A-game to Singapore. Per PUNCH, the country’s contingent shone at the 2026 Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad Challenge, held July 17–21 and featuring 2,285 students from 40 countries.

Agu Chukwuka of Grundtvig International Secondary School bagged two golds and a bronze, placing eighth globally in the Grade 7 category. Okpere-Udo Hallel of Graceland International School finished second worldwide in Grade 10, adding a gold and bronze to his haul.

More golds came from Nwawulu Chimgozirim Kevin, Stanley Iduate Samson and Adepetu Mofopefoluwa Oluwasemilore, with several others earning silver, bronze and honourable mentions. Nigerian Director Ms Josiah Mercy said the wins reflect the value of quality education and mentorship.
