Nigerian national Afeez Olatunji Adewale has been sentenced to 60 months in a US prison for his role in a sextortion scheme linked to the death of a young man in Pennsylvania, becoming the last of three Nigerian defendants sentenced in the case.
Nigerian Jailed in US Over Sextortion Death Case
Justice finally caught up with him — thousands of miles from home. According to Vanguard, Nigerian national Afeez Olatunji Adewale, 27, has been sentenced to 60 months in a US prison for money laundering and wire fraud tied to a sextortion scheme that led to a young man’s death in Pennsylvania.
Adewale was extradited from Nigeria in February 2026 and pleaded guilty in April. US Attorney David Metcalf said all three defendants in the case have now been brought to justice.
He’s the last of three Nigerians sentenced in the scheme — co-defendants Samuel Abiodun and Imoleayo Aina received five and six years respectively. FBI officials praised the cross-border cooperation that led to the convictions.
