A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced fugitive drug trafficker Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu and ex-international footballer Segun George Hunkarin to a combined 24 years in prison for cocaine importation, after Chinedu evaded justice for nearly a decade.

A decade on the run finally caught up with him. According to The Nation, Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has sentenced fugitive drug kingpin Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu and ex-international footballer Segun George Hunkarin to a combined 24 years for cocaine importation.
Chinedu, first arraigned in 2015 for importing 6.25kg of cocaine, jumped bail and vanished for nearly 10 years before NDLEA operatives re-arrested him in June 2025 while attempting to smuggle 800 grams of cocaine through Lagos airport. Hunkarin, who played professional football in Brazil, was arrested waiting to collect the consignment.
Chinedu got 22 years, Hunkarin two. NDLEA boss Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the judgment as proof no trafficker escapes justice.
