Peter Obi: I have what it takes to unite Nigeria

Peter Obi has rejected criticism that he lacks the capacity to unite Nigeria, citing his track record of support for communities across the country.

Speaking on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate responded to former Borno State governor Ali Modu Sheriff, who had questioned his ability to foster national unity. Obi said his actions over the years demonstrate commitment to every part of Nigeria.

According to The Punch, Obi cited visits to Borno during the Boko Haram insurgency and after recent floods, when he donated ₦50 million to support victims. He also pointed to projects in northern states involving healthcare, education and boreholes as evidence of his national outlook.

Obi said he has what it takes to unite Nigeria and heal divisions.
