Police Probe Officers Over Ethnic Slur Video
The Nigeria Police Force has ordered a probe into a viral video showing officers allegedly acting unprofessionally and making derogatory ethnic remarks against a UK-based motorist stopped on the Lagos-Benin expressway, Peoples Gazette reports.
Force spokesperson Ani Iniedu said four officers, one assistant superintendent and three inspectors, have been identified and are in custody pending an orderly room trial. He said Inspector-General Olatunji Disu directed the Ondo State commissioner of police to conduct a full and transparent investigation into each officer’s level of involvement.
Iniedu said the conduct did not reflect the force’s values and that ethnic profiling would not be tolerated.
