Tinubu to Atiku: I’m cleaning the mess you created as VP

President Bola Tinubu has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of leaving behind a “mess” that his administration is now working to clear.

According to Daily Post, the President made the remarks on Thursday while receiving a delegation of North-East leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu accused Atiku, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, of overseeing the privatisation of government investments in public enterprises without settling pension obligations for affected workers. He said his government is now paying pensioners and resolving inherited challenges, stressing that he would not complain despite the burden.

The President also defended his administration’s reform agenda, insisting that difficult decisions were necessary to reposition the country’s economy. He urged Nigerians to remain united and support ongoing efforts aimed at national development and economic recovery.

Tinubu maintained that his administration would stay focused on implementing reforms, improving governance and addressing longstanding national challenges, while reaffirming his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
