The ADC has accused the APC government of deliberately keeping Nasir El-Rufai in detention until after the 2027 election to weaken the opposition.
ADC: APC Wants El-Rufai Held Until After 2027
The African Democratic Congress says the APC is holding Nasir El-Rufai hostage — politically. Spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi told Channels Television the former Kaduna governor’s continued detention on bailable offences, paired with near-impossible bail conditions, points to a deliberate strategy to keep him locked up past 2027, Vanguard reports.
He claimed the APC fears a freed El-Rufai would boost the opposition coalition. Abdullahi also flagged concerns over El-Rufai’s health, saying doctors advised medical observation after his condition worsened, and warned President Tinubu would bear responsibility “if anything happens” to him in custody. El-Rufai faces separate ICPC and DSS-linked charges in Abuja.
