The U.S. government has strongly condemned Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega’s decision to ban future elections in the country.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized Ortega’s move as a display of his “authoritarian nature,” urging the international community to unite against the “Murillo-Ortega dictatorship.” Rubio emphasized that the Nicaraguan people deserve the right to elect their leaders democratically.
