Pioneer FCT Head of Service and first female appointee, Grace Adayilo, has died, with circumstances yet to be disclosed.
The Pioneer Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory, Mrs Grace Adayilo, has died. She reportedly passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.
Her death was confirmed by the Special Assistant on Media to the HoS, Anthony Odey, in a brief text message to The Punch. “Yes, please,” the message read, though no further details were provided on the circumstances of her passing.
Adayilo, appointed by President Bola Tinubu on October 6, 2024, made history as the first Head of Service of the FCT and the first woman to occupy the position. Prior to her appointment, she served as Permanent Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat.
As of press time, no official statement has been issued by her family or the FCT Administration. Tributes are expected to pour in for Adayilo, who was widely regarded as a trailblazer in the civil service.
