NIS sacks OIS services as US visa operator, redirects applicants to Nigerian missions

The Nigeria Immigration Service has disengaged OIS Services as operator of its Visa Application and Submission Centres in the United States, directing applicants to now submit their applications directly at Nigerian diplomatic missions.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has disengaged Online Integrated Solution, popularly known as OIS Services, as the operator of its Visa Application and Submission Centres in the United States, effective immediately.

According to The Whistler, the disengagement means Nigerian visa applicants in the US can no longer route their applications through OIS Services, a company that had been handling collection and submission on behalf of the Nigerian Mission.

In a public notice signed by its Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, on Wednesday, the NIS confirmed that OIS Services had been officially dropped from its role in processing visa applications for the Nigerian Mission in the United States.

With the immediate change in place, the NIS has directed that all applicants seeking Nigerian visas must now submit their applications directly at Nigerian diplomatic missions across the country.

Specifically, applicants have been instructed to head to the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington D.C., or to the Consulates of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta, depending on their jurisdiction.

The NIS said this arrangement remains in force until further notice, signalling that the shift away from a third-party operator could be temporary or subject to a new framework down the line.

No reason was given in the notice for the disengagement of OIS Services, and the NIS did not disclose whether a new operator would eventually be appointed to manage the centres.

For now, applicants are expected to adjust to the new process and engage directly with the missions listed for all visa-related submissions going forward.
