NDC Pegs Presidential Form At N60m Ahead Of 2027 Polls
The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has released its timetable for the sale of forms, screening and primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party fixed its presidential nomination form at N60 million, comprising N20 million for the Expression of Interest form and N40 million for the nomination form.
Party officials said the timetable was part of preparations to ensure an early and transparent process ahead of the elections.
The development places the NDC among parties already positioning for the 2027 presidential contest.
Mutfwang Reaffirms Commitment To Tackling Plateau Insecurity
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has reiterated his administration’s determination to address security challenges confronting the state.
Mutfwang spoke on Tuesday while receiving students of Senior Course 48 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, during a visit to Government House.
The governor said his administration remained committed to restoring peace and stability across troubled communities.
He commended security agencies for their efforts and called for sustained collaboration among stakeholders to end violence in the state.
Nollywood Actor Alexx Ekubo Dies At 40
The Nigerian entertainment industry was thrown into mourning on Tuesday following the reported death of popular Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo.
Family sources disclosed that the actor died on Monday, May 11, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was aged 40.
Ekubo was widely celebrated for his roles in romantic comedies and drama films and was regarded as one of Nollywood’s most versatile actors.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Appeal Panel for the Rivers State House of Assembly primary has received 16 petitions from aggrieved aspirants.
Among those who submitted petitions at the APC state secretariat was Victor Oko-Jumbo, an expelled member of the Rivers State House of Assembly and loyalist of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The petitions were filed by aspirants dissatisfied with the outcome of the party’s screening exercise.
Obasa Declares Interest In House Of Representatives Seat
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared his intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Obasa made the announcement on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege.
He said leaders of the APC in the constituency encouraged him to join the race ahead of the 2027 elections.
Edo Police Arrest 55 Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue 58 Victims
The Edo State Police Command says it arrested 55 suspected kidnappers and rescued 58 victims between March and May 2026.
Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing in Benin City.
According to him, the arrests followed intensified operations against violent crimes across the state.
He added that the command would sustain ongoing security operations aimed at protecting lives and property.
Nigeria Must Stop Depending On Borrowing — Oyedele
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has warned that Nigeria can no longer rely heavily on borrowing to fund development.
Oyedele spoke on Tuesday at the 28th Annual Tax Conference of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria in Abuja.
He stressed the need for a sustainable fiscal system capable of supporting critical sectors of the economy.

The member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chinedu Obika, has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

He stated that despite the Labour Party’s prolonged internal crisis, he remained loyal to Obi and believed in his leadership.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rejected calls for the opposition to zone the 2027 presidential ticket to the South.
In a statement issued by his camp, Atiku warned that presenting another southern candidate against President Bola Tinubu could hand the incumbent an easy path to re-election.
He argued that opposition parties should focus on building a formidable coalition capable of defeating the ruling party rather than adopting what he described as sentimental political calculations.

The Borno State Government has defended its rehabilitation and reintegration programme for repentant terrorists.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Zuwaira Gambo, said the programme includes an oath-taking process using the Quran to discourage beneficiaries from returning to violence.
Gambo stated this during an interview aired on Newscentral Television.
She added that repentant terrorists who return to the bush after surrendering also risk punishment from the armed groups they abandoned.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described the alleged action as “shameless, cruel and criminal.”
The ADC alleged that over ₦800 billion was raised through deductions from FAAC allocations for political purposes.
