Nigeria Honored for Financial Crime Fight
Nigeria earned the UNODC–World Bank–Egmont Group Stolen Asset Recovery (StAR) Initiative Award in Baku, Azerbaijan, for its leadership against financial crime. This top global honor celebrates innovative cooperation and impact. Key was the NFIU and EFCC’s collaboration, whose intelligence-led efforts achieved asset recovery and disrupted illicit networks. NFIU CEO Hafsat Bakari affirmed it was a “proud moment for Nigeria.”
